Effect of PH Value on Flocculation of Polyacrylamide
A large number of experiments have proved that
PAM has the best effect when the PH value of sewage is 6-8. Through the comparative experiment of two groups of sewage,
one is alkaline sewage and the other is acidic sewage. When the PH value is
less than 6, the amount of polyacrylamide used in sewage treatment increases
obviously to achieve the same effect. When the PH value is smaller and the
acidity is stronger, the amount of polyacrylamide used increases until there is
no flocculation effect at all. When the PH value is more than 8, the higher PH
value is, the worse flocculation effect will be, until there is no flocculation
effect.
According
to plenty of experiments, it can be concluded that anionic polyacrylamide is
suitable for treatment of sewage with weak alkalinity and cationic
polyacrylamide is suitable for treatment of sewage with weak acidity. Whether the sewage is strong acidic or alkaline, they will
affect the flocculation effect of polyacrylamide. The most ideal flocculation
effect is that the sewage is neutral. In this way, polyacrylamide can maximize
its performance, improve its application efficiency and reduce its application
cost. Therefore, when using PAM, it is better to adjust the PH value of sewage
by adding acid or alkali before treatment.
