Polyacrylamide Can Be Used as Paint Additive
Polyacrylamide is a linear polymer
water-soluble polymer. It can be divided into anionic, cationic, non-ionic and
amphoteric polyacrylamide according to the groups of products. The product is
insoluble in most organic solvents. It has good flocculation, and can reduce
friction resistance between liquids. Polyacrylamide
is mainly used in sewage treatment, petroleum exploitation, paper making,
textile, geological exploration, mining, biomedicine, feed processing, etc. It
can also be used as additives in some industries. The role of anionic polyacrylamide in
coatings is described below.
Anionic
polyacrylamide is mainly used to thicken and disperse coatings. Adding this
product to coatings can change the rheology of coatings, improve the
consistency of coatings, change the physical properties of coatings, and
enhance the plasticity of coatings. It can keep the systems in coatings in a
dispersed state, without agglomeration and precipitation. To ensure that the
coating system maintains a stable suspension or emulsion state, it ensures that
the coating has good fluidity and stability, and improves the performance of
the coating.
The
use of anionic polyacrylamide as thickener of coatings has the following
advantages: low cost, low dosage, environmental protection, no pollution, no
residue, easy to use, stable performance of coatings and conducive to construction.
