Application of Polyacrylamide (PAM) in Textile Industry
Polyacrylamide has the characters of strong
hygroscopicity, good adsorptivity and dispersibility, good film-forming ability
and smoothness of size film. And it has the advantages of strong affinity to
fibers, high strength and low elasticity, and good solubility with various
sizes. Adding polyacrylamide to make chemical
sizes for textile sizing can improve adhesion, permeability and desizing
performance. Textile treated with polyacrylamide sizes can produce a protective
layer that is flexible, wrinkle-proof and mildew-proof. Therefore, polyacrylamide can be used as
sizing agent and finishing agent for textiles. The use of polyacrylamide as
fabric treatment agent can make the fabric anti-static and flame retardant,
reducing sizing rate, sizing spot, breakage rate and desizing rate of cloth
machine. When used as auxiliaries for printing and dyeing, it can make the
product adhere firmly and brightly, and it can also be used as a non-silicon
macromolecule stabilizer for bleaching.
